Gene Komondor is a FEMA-certified Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) and has received the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). He has been designated as a Subject Matter Expert by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Safe and Healthy Students, Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance Center. His background in Emergency Preparedness includes service as Exercise Director, Facilitator and Evaluator for more than 100 Table Top, Functional and Full Scale Exercises. He has designed, conducted and evaluated School Safety / Active Shooter, WMD, Pandemic Influenza and Continuity-of-Government Exercises, and has been involved with training, exercise and school safety-related projects and spoken at emergency preparedness conferences throughout the United States. Mr. Komondor has a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, along with Bachelor Degrees in Public Administration and Human Resource Management, both from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. He also has a Certificate in Homeland Security from the Institute for Law and Public Policy at California University of Pennsylvania, and has completed Executive Education training at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is an Adjunct Instructor in the University of Pittsburgh’s Emergency Medicine degree program; an Instructor in the Emergency Services program at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA; the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County (PA) Fire Academies; and has also served as an Instructor at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD. Mr. Komondor holds Basic, Advanced and Professional Certifications in Emergency Management from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and formerly served as the Emergency Management Coordinator for North Huntingdon Township (population 30,000) in western Pennsylvania, where he co-chairs the Safe Schools Committee for the Norwin School District.
